what is trans+connect?
Welcome to Trans+Connect, a peer-support space for trans+ adults facilitated by Not A Phase. To ensure that all participants feel safe, respected, and supported, we ask that you follow our guidelines when attending our groups. These groups are designed to be participatory peer-support groups, where you can come together with other members of the community and discuss your experiences, listen to others and ask for advice. Our peer-support leaders are there to help facilitate these discussions and ensure that these spaces are safe for all those involved.
By attending a Trans+Connect group, you agree to follow our guidelines to help create a safe and supportive space for all participants.
Thank you for being part of Trans+Connect. We are here to support each other!

Trans+Connect Group Guidelines
- Treat all participants with kindness and respect. Trans+Connect is a space for mutual support, not debate or confrontation.
- Use the names and pronouns people share with you. If you make a mistake, apologise, correct yourself, and move on.
- Discrimination, harassment, or hate speech of any kind will not be tolerated and will result in being banned from all Trans+Connect groups moving forward.
- These groups work best when attendees engage and contribute. While you are not required to speak every session, we do encourage you to participate in a way that feels comfortable for you and not just sit in silence.
- If you need accommodations to participate (e.g., communication difficulties), please inform the facilitator in advance by emailing hello@notaphase.org.
- If you feel uncomfortable at any point, you are welcome to step away or leave the session.
- What is shared in the group stays in the group. Please respect everyone’s privacy and do not share personal stories, identities, or details outside of the group.
- Do not take screenshots, record, or distribute any content from the sessions.
- Avoid asking intrusive or personal questions—everyone has the right to share only what they are comfortable with.
- Speak from personal experience and avoid generalisations. Use “I” statements rather than “you” statements.
- Respect different identities and experiences. Everyone’s trans+ journey is unique, and no single experience defines being trans+.
- If a discussion becomes distressing for you, take a break or reach out to the facilitator for support.
- Our trained facilitators are here to ensure a positive and inclusive experience for all attendees. Please respect their role in moderating discussions and maintaining the group’s safe environment.
- If a facilitator asks you to change your behaviour or refrain from a particular topic, please comply. Continued disregard for group guidelines may result in removal from the session and potentially being banned from future groups.
- Cameras must be turned on during online sessions to ensure a safe and accountable environment for all attendees. If you have concerns about this, please discuss them with a facilitator before the session or by emailing hello@notaphase.org .
- Keep your microphone muted when not speaking to avoid background noise.
If you have any accessibility needs (e.g., captions, chat participation), let us know in advance by emailing hello@notaphase.org.
- If you experience or witness any issues in a group session, please contact the facilitator or reach out to Not A Phase at hello@notaphase.org.
- We take all concerns seriously and will address them in line with our safeguarding and complaints policies.
